27 June 2025, 8:45 PM — Here’s a crescent moon, but you can see the entire moon with the aid of the 400mm lens. f/6.3, 4 second exposure, ISO-400.

To get more detail in the moon, to see craters and such, I need to read up on proper ISO settings, exposure, all that good stuff. This was shot from my backyard at 33° 39’52″N 117° 36’43″W
Persepective is needed, which means placing the shot in some sort of recognizable framework, such as a building or tree or something. Otherwise the moon is just giant orb in the sky to the camera lens.
It’s real easy to blow out the image, meaning to overexpose, at longer exposure times. Hmm, there’s an answer in here somewhere.
