Added a QNAP 10GbE network card to the NAS, and a new QNAP switch with 4×2.5 GbE and 2x10GbE RJ45 ports. Now, I get throughput that makes working with extremely large files not hurt nearly as much.
Transfer speed test show about 250 Megabyts per second transfer from SSD to the NAS. Lightroom imports from NAS to SSD are much faster. What used to take minutes now takes seconds.
If the speed difference a true factor of 10? Probably not, but the seat of the pants testing proves the upgrade was definitely worth the money.
Video editing straight off the NAS should now be possible, although I have yet to attempt that.
