Star Trails With Sigma 14mm Lens

8 July, 2025 — This is a test image, and it came out pretty darned good. It was nice of a plane to fly through the middle of the shot.

Focal length: 14mm, ISO-100, f/1.4, 15 second exposure, 120 shots. This image has been compressed to save space on the server, but the image still works, and you get the idea of how the final image looks in all it’s uncompressed glory.

Here’s the video version:

Notes: The image stacking was done in Photoshop after the images were manipluated Lightroom. The stack of 201 images were flattened into final still.

The images were then loaded into DaVinci Resolve, where a timelapse was created, text added, music chosen and placed on the timeline. The final image was slowly zoomed in post.

Next time, try to get the village in better focus. In fact, instead of focusing on Modjeska Pass, like you did in this one, focus on the actual houses below. Then they will be in focus. The star trails may be out of focus, but that’s an artistic decision.
